Service: WHOLE BUILDING ENERGY ANALYSIS

SUMMARY

The RESD project is a new High School for the Riverside Elementary School District #2 in Phoenix, Arizona. The owner retained Oculus Studio to provide energy modeling services that would be interactive and facilitate environmentally responsive design solutions while also being energy efficient and sensitive to utility cost. The whole building energy analysis was performed using eQuest v 3-64 based on as-built drawings/documents provided by the architect.

Project Size: total building area is 59,955 SF and comprises one 2 story building

 

The building was analyzed for potential energy efficiency measures (EEM’s). Based on simulation results of individual EEM’s a series of combinations with multiple efficiency measures were analyzed for maximum potential benefit of reducing energy consumption, demand, and utility cost. An As-Designed (AD) option was developed from drawings/documents provided by the architects and compared to the reference baseline building design as defined by ASHRAE 90.1-2007 Appendix G. The analysis results for the building simulation indicate there is a potential to save 24%  of annual energy consumption based on comparing the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 baseline with the AD simulation. In addition, the analysis showed the potential to reduce peak demand by 2% in comparing the baseline with the AD simulation.
