AB&T Installs Solar Canopy Expecting Cool Results
Phoenix, Arizona—Arizona Bank & Trust will install an Active Shade® solar canopy system for its Phoenix branch, located at 2306 E. Camelback Road. The 224-solar module installation will generate more than 125 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean renewable energy, enough to power 9 typical single-family homes for a year.
“Being able to provide a better client experience by adding additional covered parking, while also producing clean energy fits our mission to be a local leader,” explains Bill Callahan, Arizona Bank & Trust President and CEO. “We address the shared need for shade in the Valley and by working with Oculus Studio, we found a solution that compliments the banking center’s aesthetics while offering more comfort and convenience to our customers, ultimately reducing our carbon footprint with one fiscally responsible beautification project.”
“Active Shade® solar canopy system provides an environmentally responsible, stylish shade structure with a financial payback,” says Jesse Henson, architect and CEO of Oculus Studio. Shade is a precious resource in the Sonoran Desert climate and Arizona Bank & Trust’s customers will be able to enjoy 19 covered spaces. The project’s environmental benefit is equal to the amount of carbon sequestered by 74 acres of U.S. forests per year. The recently completed project has quickly become a favorite with customers and staff alike.
The Active Shade® Arizona-based project team includes Oculus Studio as the architect and designer with consulting provided by Caruso Turley Scott and Skidmore Engineering. The project construction team includes Resolute Performance Contracting, LLC and K2 Electric, Inc.
